Does your home have peeling paint? Check your siding and trim to see if the paint is peeling. This is the most obvious sign it is time to paint. Many homes have one side that gets more exposure to weather, like extreme sun, wind, and rain. This will be the side that shows wear the earliest. If your siding or window sills are actually flaking and peeling, you have waited too long. Once your paint has peeled, it is allowing water to seep below the surface of the paint and cause your wood to rot and mildew. If you leave these peeling surfaces unpainted, you will be faced with many costly repairs. With a little luck and attention, you’ll be able to repaint prior to this stage.
